Poppy, the 24 year old cat from Bournemouth. See SWNS story SWCAT: Poppy the moggy who was officially recognised as the world’s oldest cat after making it to the age of 24 has died – just weeks after clenching the title. The tortoiseshell was born in February 1990, the same month Nelson Mandela was released from prison. She lived through five British Prime Ministers but now she has now passed away, following a short illness. Poppy, who was recognised by Guinness World Records on May 19, was just one year younger than Misao Okawa of Japan, the oldest person in the world.
